Theme
The theme of the competition is to design a completely closed space, which is itinerant and mountable-dismountable, able to house live performances (theatre, circus, new circus, childrens shows, events, etc.), for a capacity of roughly 500 people.
The choice of the type(s) of performance to be held in this projected space is left to the candidates initiative. However, this needs to be clearly stated, as the project may feature in magazines specialising in performance arts and events and must be able to interest a performing arts company.
The space for receiving the public may or may not dispose of tiered seating, a ring or floor, or stages. The position of the spectators may evolve to include performances which are frontal, bi-frontal or in the round.
An additional public area of 50m2 maximum may be designed for connected activities (ticket office, refreshment area, VIP lounge, sale of by-products, exhibition etc.); this may be contiguous or completely separate.
The integration of heating, ventilation or electrical equipment is not imperative. Nevertheless, the candidate should give thought to the question of ambiance and develop a standpoint to be defended in their reports.
The candidates are entirely free in their choice of concept. However, the project must be realisable, in compliance with the size dictated by the type of performance chosen, economically feasible and must include considerations in terms of the logistics involved: mounting and dismounting, transport (number of trucks), labour force required, anchoring to the ground, etc.
This space must be in keeping with the spirit of quality, security and durability of the prevailing norms and regulations in Europe.
