Prizes, awards

For the finalists, the expenses for the participation at the Workshop in Grands Ateliers will be fully supported by the organisers (see ‘Procedure’).

The second jury will judge the final production for each project especially in connection with his evolution during the two stages of the competition. Prizes amounting to the sum of 10000 € may be offered as follows:

• The EALR-GAIA prize 6000 €

• Two honorary prizes of 2000 € each

The jury will remain the sovereign judge of the attribution of the prizes.

The finalist projects will be presented in an exhibition at an international congress devoted to lightweight structures (IASS Congress 2004, in Montpellier). Furthermore, theseprojects will be proposed for publication in specialised reviews (architecture and scenography).

Ownership of documents

Candidates will retain full ownership of their creations. Nevertheless, it will be the candidates’ own responsible to apply for industrial and artistic protection of their ideas, should they wish to do so. Candidates remain at liberty to exploit their projects as they see fit, notably in terms of realisation; they should however inform the organisers of the competition of their intentions.

On the other hand, all the documents, samples, models etc. supplied by the candidates as well as the rights of distribution (publication, exhibition, etc.) of the elements of the project remain the property of the organisers. The latter pledge to clearly display the names and occupations of the candidates.

Registration fees will be retained by the organisers.
